Into the Blue

The Silfra Fissure is one of Iceland’s most desirable snorkeling spots. Located in the heart of Thingvellir National Park, this narrow channel of blue water meandering through a giant lava field does not look like much on the surface. But below, supernatural shades of blue, perfect visibility and incredible rock formations make up a magical sub-aquatic paradise. Enjoy a great snorkeling experience as you drift peacefully in the comfort of a warmly insulated drysuit accompanied by our highly skilled guides. Silfra, frequently rated as one of the world’s top ten dive sites, is located between the tectonic plates of Europe and America. With up to 100 meters of underwater visibility, Silfra is truly a mesmerizing site, not to be missed by any snorkeler, experienced or not.

Into the Blue offers a relaxing but exotic trip in a highly unique and captivating environment!

Driving directions
If you plan to drive and meet us on location, the meeting point is on the parking lot outside the Information Centre by the Thingvellir National Park campsite. Note: When driving from Reykjavík on road 36 you will first see a Visitor Centre and viewpoint for Þingvellir on your right-hand side. This is NOT the meeting point, keep going and drive further for 5-10 min on road 36 and you will see the Information Centre on your left hand.

Please note that the national park charges a small fee for parking.

If you have your own transport and want to meet us, then the meeting time is 15 minutes before announced departure time at the Þingvellir service center/campsite. See map for details.

Bad eyesight?
You will be wearing a snorkeling mask while in the water and you won’t be able to wear your glasses underneath. So unless you are bringing your own prescription mask we recommend that you acquire contact lenses for your snorkeling tour.

Swimming
Although you don’t need to “swim” while snorkeling, we recommend that you can because you have to be comfortable with floating in water to be able to enjoy to the fullest. People that can’t swim tend to panic water and we do not want you to do that.
